New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. Responsible for one of the largest of the 56 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation’s donation system, NEDS works with over 200 hospitals and serves nearly 15 million people in our region, screening nearly 55,000 potential donor referrals annually. With approximately $110M in operating revenues, NEDS employs 348 clinical and non-clinical staff members throughout New England and across the country.

You have the opportunity to advance your healthcare career at New England Donor Services by joining a dynamic, professional team whose mission is to save and enhance lives through tissue donation.
As a Tissue Recovery Specialist you will become a member of a professional team working in a surgical setting where you will be trained to aseptically remove bones, skin, veins, corneas, heart-for-valves and additional tissues from deceased donors, while developing your technical skills in ways you never imagined possible.
Schedule
As a full time employee you will be on-call for 7 shifts within a 14 day period (6 of the shifts are 24 hours on-call and 2 shifts are 12 hours on-call). You work every other weekend. Shifts start at 10:00am or 10:00pm.
The work schedule is varied and includes overnights, some holidays and every other weekend. Additional mandatory training and meetings required.
Orientation: During the first few weeks, travel to the Waltham, MA site will be required for orientation and training purposes. Approximately 3 days a week for the first 3-4 weeks will be required.
Travel
This position is based in Vernon, CT, however, it is likely you will travel throughout New England in NEDS vehicles. Must be comfortable with long periods of driving and possible travel in a small aircraft.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, disciplined, detail oriented, independent, adaptable, team oriented and possess the stamina required to succeed in this intense and rewarding clinical setting.
